CADILLAC, MI— Northview Seventh-day Adventist School in Cadillac, Michigan is holding its second annual live and silent auction event on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 6:30 pm at 202 N. Carmel Street.

“The event will include food concessions, a bake sale, a silent and live auction. We are expediting the auction by putting budget friendly small ticket items in the ‘new’ silent auction while the high value items such as the 2018 ‘Avenger by Prime Time MFG” 26’ BH travel trailer, a 50” INSIGNIA Amazon Fire TV, and other services are in the live auction.  Some other “big” ticket items include other electronics, a kids CASE tractor and trailer, car care packages, Bobcat rental, local ground beef, dental care packages, and many more items,” says Gunther Schwartz, school board chairman.

Exciting ‘Free’ Bicycle Drawing- For children 8 and under, there will be a free drawing for four gently used bicycles from our friends at McLain Cycle & Fitness as part of their ‘Pay It Forward’ program.

“The auction’s most beautiful part is the businesses and community coming together to support one of our area schools.  Last year, we raised upwards of $12,000 on our way to $36,000 to provide a safer learning environment for students and staff.  The proceeds allowed us to place the order for new security tinted windows and doors that will be installed soon,” says Holly Bailey-Wiltzer, Auction Committee Member.

Cara Brinzeiu, Auction Committee Member, adds “This year’s proceeds will go to help raise our goal of $36,000 for security upgrades.”

Since 2016, proactively the Northview School Board has identified the necessity to complete security upgrades to their campus. These upgrades include replacing windows and doors that are over 50 years old, installing a security system, security window tinting, installing a property security perimeter, and several other upgrades.

Northview obtained several quotes from companies and concluded that the cost of these upgrades will be almost $36,000. Last year, they held a community auction similar to the one they are doing this year. With the help of businesses from the Cadillac, Grand Traverse, and Lake City area, they raised almost 1/3 of the money needed.

Northview has been in continuous operation since 1943. Since then, Northview has educated over 3,000 children in the Wexford/Missaukee/Osceola Area.

Northview’s quality and rigorous accredited education continues to this day as a part of one of the largest worldwide education systems including 7500 schools and 1.5 million students in elementary, junior, and high school. They have a whole school skiing program, a swimming program, and a school band. They conduct church services, have an annual Thanksgiving Senior Dinner, do nursing home visitation, books for donations, traditional school programs, and Strong Tower Radio program productions.

The staff includes a principal, who doubles as the head teacher, two teaching assistants, one librarian, an energized parent-teacher organization, and dedicated alumnus, many who serve on the board.  The facilities include two classrooms, library, chapel, lunchroom /science room, a full-sized gymnasium, and city campus.  The school is currently located at 202 N. Carmel in Cadillac, its home for 50 years.
