Pillars Move

“Goodbyes are not forever. Goodbyes are not the end. They simply mean, I’ll miss you until we meet again.” That sentiment was echoed on November 20, when we said a formal goodbye to Lanette and David Brandow during our church service.

Lanette and David Brandow first arrived in Cadillac in 2008, when they took the teacher posi- tion there. The Cadillac News on August 15, 2008, said, “At the elementary, Lanette Brandow will start teaching after spending the past 22 years teaching in the Owosso area. With all those years of experience, Brandow brings a multitude of experience as well as strong Christian principles.” Both Lanette and David, known to the students as Mr. and Mrs. Brandow, were very involved with Northview and the children that attended. Later, in 2012, Lanette retired from her decades long teaching career in favor of caring for her aging mother.

But that was only the beginning of the Brandow’s support of the Cadillac Church. Lanette stayed involved with the school, as well as becoming the church secretary and clerk. She taught the Primary Sabbath School class for several years. David became an elder. Later, Lanette started the Visitor’s Dinners and assisted with the kitchen ministry. The couple became known for their hospitality toward visitors and regular church attendees alike, frequently opening their home up for potlucks and luncheons. Together, they also started a senior’s Bible study group that continued until the pandemic. We will always remember their leadership, friendship, and ministry in our church.

David and Lanette’s last weekend here is December 4. Afterwards, they are moving to Ovid, Michigan, where they will be closer to their children.
